With Triggerbee Email Templates, you can create reusable emails and send them automatically from your Triggerbee automations.
In this guide, you'll learn how to create an email template, build its content, configure your sender domain, and send the email from an automation.
Create an email template
Go to Account settings → Email Templates.
Click New template. If you haven't created any templates yet, you can also click Create your first template.
Choose a starting point
Choose how you want to create your email:
Blank template: Build a new email from scratch.
Predefined template: Start with one of the available templates and customize it.
Select an option to open the email editor.
Configure the email settings
At the top of the editor, configure the settings for your email.
Name: Give your template a recognizable name.
The name is used internally in Triggerbee and helps you find the right template when configuring an automation.
Subject: Enter the subject line recipients will see in their inbox.
Reply-To Address: Enter the email address where replies from recipients should be sent.
Sender email and Sender Name: Configure who the email should appear to come from. The Sender Name is the name recipients see as the sender.
You can configure your own sender domain under Account settings → Sender Domains. See Set up your sender domain below.
Add UTM tracking
You can optionally add UTM parameters to links in your email to identify traffic generated by your Triggerbee emails in your analytics platform.
You can configure:
UTM Source
UTM Medium
UTM Campaign
UTM Content
Leave these fields empty if you don't want to add UTM tracking.
Build your email
The Preview area is both a preview of the finished email and the place where you build its content.
Add a section
Click the + button in the email body.
Choose how many columns you want the new section to contain:
Column
Two columns
Three columns
You can add multiple sections to create the layout you need.
Add content to a section
After adding a section, click Click to add inside a column.
Choose the type of content you want to add:
Header: Add a heading.
Text: Add a block of text.
Button: Add a clickable call-to-action.
Image: Add an image.
HTML: Add custom HTML.
Divider: Add a visual separator.
Spacer: Add vertical space between content.
When you select a component in the preview, its settings appear in the Edit panel on the right.
Continue adding and editing sections and components until your email is ready.
Preview and save
The preview shows how the email will look for an example contact, including the:
Sender
Recipient
Subject
Email body
Review the email and click Save when you're finished.
Click Send Test Email to review the email in your own inbox.
Set up your sender domain
Before sending emails from your own domain, you need to add the domain to Triggerbee and configure its DNS records.
Go to Account settings → Sender Domains.
Enter the domain you want to use in the Domain name field and click Add domain.
Your newly added domain will initially appear as Unverified.
Configure your DNS records
Click on your domain name.
Triggerbee displays the DNS records that need to be added to your domain. The records are divided into three categories:
Sending
Receiving (*optional)
Tracking
Add the records shown in Triggerbee to the DNS configuration for your domain.
Sending records
Open the Sending tab to see the records required for sending email from your domain.
These include the DNS records Triggerbee uses to authenticate outgoing email.
Add each record to your DNS provider using the Type, Name, and Value displayed in Triggerbee.
Receiving records
Open the Receiving tab to see the records required for receiving email.
Add the displayed MX records to your DNS provider.
Important: MX records control how email addressed to a domain is routed. If your domain already receives email through another provider, review the required configuration before replacing existing MX records.
Tracking records
Open the Tracking tab to see the record used for email tracking.
Add the displayed CNAME record to your DNS provider using the name and value shown in Triggerbee.
Verify your domain
After you've added the required DNS records, return to Sender Domains and click Verify DNS records.
The Valid column shows whether Triggerbee can verify each record.
An orange/red X indicates that the expected DNS record hasn't been verified yet.
DNS changes aren't always available immediately. If you've just updated your DNS configuration, you may need to wait for the changes to propagate before checking again.
Once the required records have been verified, your sender domain is ready to use.
Send an email from an automation
Once you've created your email template, you can use Triggerbee Automations to decide when it should be sent.
Create a new automation or open an existing one.
Configure the visitor trigger and any conditions that determine who should receive the email.
Make sure the visitor has an email address
When appropriate, add the condition: Email is not empty
This ensures that the automation only continues when Triggerbee has an email address for the visitor.
Add the email action
Click Add action and select: Triggerbee → Send transactional email
The action will show Action setup is not complete until you've configured it.
Click the edit icon on the action to open its settings.
Under Email template, select the template you want to send.
Complete the rest of your automation and activate it when you're ready.
Example: Send an email after an initiated purchase
For example, you can configure an automation to send an email when a visitor initiates a purchase:
Set the trigger to Completes Goal: Initiated Purchase.
Add the condition Email is not empty.
Add the Triggerbee: Send transactional email action.
Select the email template you want to send.
Complete and activate the automation.
When a visitor meets the trigger and conditions, the automation sends the selected email template.
