Content Dimensions help you understand what your visitors are interested in based on the content they interact with on your website.
Triggerbee automatically tracks visitor engagement across dimensions such as Category, Tags, Brand, Author, and URL. As visitors browse your website and interact with content, Triggerbee builds an interest profile that reflects which topics, products, or types of content appear most relevant to them.
Content Dimension data is available on three levels:
Visitors – see the interests of an individual anonymous visitor during their visit.
Profiles – build a longer-term picture of an identified visitor's interests and preferences.
Website analytics – understand which dimensions and values are most popular across your entire audience.
This gives you both an individual view of visitor intent and an aggregated view of what your audience is interested in.
How Content Dimensions work
When a visitor browses your website, Triggerbee identifies the dimensions associated with the pages they visit and records engagement with those values.
For example, an ecommerce visitor might browse:
Category: Bags
Brand: Louis Vuitton
Gender: Women
Color: Black
Size: M
Tags: Sale
A visitor on a content or media website might instead generate data such as:
Category: Business
Tags: Ecommerce, Retail
Author: Jane Doe
URL: Pricing
Over time, these interactions create scores that indicate which dimension values the visitor has shown the strongest interest in.
Triggerbee also adds additional weight when visitors perform meaningful interactions, such as adding a product to their cart. This helps distinguish simply viewing content from showing stronger intent.
Configure Content Dimensions
Go to:
Account Settings → Customization → Content Popularity
Here you can choose which Content Dimensions Triggerbee should track. The available dimensions are:
Dimension | What it represents |
Category | The section or category that a product or article belongs to. |
Tags | Keywords or topics associated with the page. |
Brand | The brand or manufacturer associated with a product. |
Gender | The intended gender audience for a product. |
Color | The color associated with a product. |
Size | The size associated with a product. |
Material | The material a product is made from. |
Author | The author of an article or piece of content. |
URL Interest Profiles | Creates your own URL-based dimensions using URL patterns. |
The number of dimensions you can activate depends on your Triggerbee plan.
Changes to your active Content Dimensions may take up to one hour to take effect.
URL Interest Profiles
URL Interest Profiles let you create dimensions based on the URLs visitors browse.
This is particularly useful when the structure of your website already tells you something about visitor intent.
For example, URLs such as:
/women/jackets/
/women/blazers/
/women/tops/
could be grouped into interest values such as Coats/Jackets, Blazers, and Tops.
This lets you use Content Dimensions even when the information you want to track isn't explicitly available as product or content metadata.
Advanced configuration
Triggerbee automatically extracts dimension values whenever possible. If the information you want to use cannot be detected automatically, you can use the Advanced options to provide the values manually with JavaScript.
For example, you can read a category, brand, or other value from an element on the page and assign it to the corresponding Content Dimension.
You can also manually increase a dimension's score when a meaningful interaction occurs. This can be useful for interactions that indicate stronger intent than simply viewing a page.
For example, you might give additional weight to a brand when a visitor interacts with a particular product.
Tip: Use the automatic tracking whenever possible and use the custom script when your website contains important metadata that Triggerbee cannot extract automatically.
Content Dimension Score Retention
Under Content Dimension Score Retention, you can control how long Triggerbee keeps the per-session engagement data used to calculate profile-level Content Dimension scores.
The default retention period is 30 days.
A shorter retention period makes a visitor's interest profile react more strongly to their recent behavior, while a longer retention period gives their historical interests more influence.
For example, someone who previously browsed running shoes but has recently spent most of their time looking at hiking products will shift toward hiking interests faster with a shorter retention period.
Content Dimensions for individual visitors and profiles
Content Dimensions are available directly on individual Visitors and Profiles.
Here you can see which dimension values currently have the strongest score for that person. For example, a visitor could show:
URL
Coats/Jackets – 42%
Blazers – 33%
Tops – 25%
Category
Tops – 67%
Fitted blazers – 33%
This provides a quick indication of what that visitor appears to be most interested in based on their behavior.
For identified Profiles, Content Dimensions can build up over multiple sessions according to your configured score-retention period.
Content Popularity across your website
Content Dimensions are also aggregated across your website, giving you an overview of the content and interests that are currently most popular with your audience.
The Content Popularity chart shows how engagement with different dimension values develops over time. This makes it possible to identify trends and changes in audience interest.
For example, you might see interest in Sweaters increase as the weather gets colder, or a particular product category gain attention during a campaign.
The chart also highlights the current top-performing dimension value and its share of tracked Content Dimension events.
Top Content Dimensions
The Top Content Dimensions section gives you a ranked overview of the most popular dimension values.
You can switch between All dimensions or filter the list by a specific dimension, such as Category, Material, or URL.
For each value, you can see:
The dimension and value, for example URL: Sweaters
The number of recorded dimension events
Its percentage of the tracked Content Dimension activity
This makes it easy to answer questions such as "Which categories are visitors most interested in right now?", "Which brands attract the most engagement?", or "What content is becoming more popular?"
Using Content Dimensions for personalization
The real value of Content Dimensions is that they turn browsing behavior into usable visitor intent.
Instead of only knowing that someone visited five pages, you can understand that those pages indicate a strong interest in, for example, Jackets, Didriksons, and Outdoor clothing.
You can use these insights to better understand your audience and create more relevant onsite experiences—for example, tailoring messages and recommendations around the categories, brands, topics, or content that visitors have demonstrated an interest in.
